Weapons Failed U.S. Troops

I found this article in http://cbs2.com/national/2008.military.attack.2.1241143.html and it caught my attention. This article talks about some U.S. soldiers being killed and how they cause may be because of weapon failure.

In my opinion, having the weapons fail them in their time of need is horrible. These soldiers of ours rely on the weapons with their lifes and now that the weapons are failing what are they to think? I believe that the government should provide reliable weapons. Our soldiers are putting their lives at risk for us, the least that could be done is give them weapons that they can count on. Soldiers are dying because of this and there are families who are loosing a sibling. I have a freind who is in Afghanistan and it devistates me to think that there is a bigger possibility that something might happen to him. God forbid that ever happen. I would just like to know that my friend and every other soldier has a chance to survive rather to have us think that they are in higher risk because of failed weapons. When i read "A week ago, eight U.S. troops were killed at a base near Kamdesh, a town near Wanat" immediately I thought about the families that lost those soldiers. How devistated they might have been and how excruciating it must be for them to try and cope with the loss. These soldiers made the decision to risk their lives for everyone here in the U.S. the least the Government can do is give them weapons that will be of good use to them.

  1. i agree that our troops should be given reliable weapons. If the government expects our soldiers to be sucessful, they need a way to protect themselves and kill our enemies

Anyone willing to offer up their lives to protect our country needs to be protected. Sadly, this is not a new story. In Iraq, soldiers didn't have armored vehicles. What bothers me is how the military budget is spent? Why are we paying top dollar to organizations like Blackwater (Xe), which has top of the line protection and weaponry, and short-changing our official soldiers?
