Technology

This article talks about a new kind of technology that helps blind people see. By using this technology you are not able to see as well as a person who has perfect vision, but you are able to distinguish different objects. This article first speaks about a lady named Barbara Campbell, who lost her sight completely by the age of 30. She began an "intensive three-year research project involving electrodes surgically implanted in her eye, a camera on the bridge of her nose and a video processor strapped to her waist." This helped her distinguish plates from cups, doors and even windows. This project has been used by various different people and also helped them see. Some became very pleased by the results but others didn't.
I believe that the article "Burst of Technology Helps Blind to See" (New York Times 9/27/09, A1) is a very interesting. Reading this article made me so please because of the subject. It's wonderful how the United States is coming up with ways to help out people who don't have the same privilages as other people. By having this project be a success it will make millions of peoples life's so much easier. Not to mention so much happier. Having to be able to see what you have in your hand is something wonderful. Being able to see your grandchildren is a wonderful feeling. I personally don't have any grandchildren to see, but nobody can deny that it would be a wonderful feeling. The fact that this type of eye care could be covered by insurance is fenaminol. Not everyone has 1,000 dollars to pay for something like this. There are a lot of people in this world that can benifit from it. These people that have actually been a part of this project have had wonderful results. They are able to see colors and distinguish shapes. We take advantage of things as wonderful as that, but what we never realize is that we have become very blessed to be able to see as well as we do. The people that can't see would love to have our blessing, but unfortunately they don't. This is a wonderful project that they are doing. To be able to give someone the ability to see after they have lost all hope is extraordinary. I say that they keep on working on this project just so they can get to the point were they are able to give those poeple who don't have their full site, the blessing of vision once again.
